Creating Penetration Test Laboratory

Building a Penetration Test Laboratory with Virtualbox in Backtrack.

Installing the Operating System to perform in Virtualbox we must prepare the following matters
Open virtualbox and click "new", till appear as shown below

Specify the name of the system to be installed, and click "next"

At this stage we need to determine value of memory RAM to use at system and click "next"

At this stage choose as default is"Create New Hardisk"
Choose "VDI" to determine type of Hardisk on Virtualbox
Choose as default is "Dynamically Allocated"
Determine size of hardisk virtual, the amount depends on the system capacity will be installed
This is final step to prepare vitual disk to install other system in this case I install Windows XP SP3
To installing system on virtual disk in Virtualbox click "on name of System has planned and click "Start" that will be appear like above picture and click "Next" we'll get visual like this
Click on icon "folder" and choos your system to install in Virtualbox and do installation usual.
This is picture of Windows XP installation progress and do it till finish
This is desktop of Windows XP on Virtualbox and we need to settings and configure about Network to connected with host (Backtrack), poweroff XP system and click "file" in Virtualbox and choose "preference" to enterance  "network" settings and click on icon "add network" so go to "Setting" and choose "Network" look at right side in Adapter's tab and choose "host only adapter" in "attached to"
Open XP's system and try to ping host's Ip
I've success to connect to host and I'll try to cross check from host (Backtrack) to ping guest Ip
I found failed when I try to ping guest (XP) Ip from host (Backtrack) and that problem causes "firewall" in Windows XP is active, we need to deactive that firewall like this
And this will allow host to ping guest (XP) cause firewall block host to ping guest.
That have now successfully ping from two directions of Backtrack to XP and XP to Backtrack, now I'll try in Linux Ubuntu 10.10 case, a prepare step is same with step in Windows XP
Choose system to install in Virtualbox, and install as usually
When finish installing do same as with Windows XP about setting and configuring "Network"
Try to ping from guest (Ubuntu) to host (Backtrack)
And try to ping from host (Backtrack) to guest (Ubuntu)
And that mean host (Backtrack) and guest (ubuntu) has connected and I'll try to ping multicross network, guest (XP), guest (ubuntu) and host (Backtrack)
IP Guest (XP) 192.168.56.101
IP Guest (Ubuntu) 192.168.56.102
 IP Host (Backtrack) 192.168.56.1
And now all system has be connected, ini Linux ubuntu we can ping direct cause Ubuntu firewall as default is open so host can ping guest direct.
